Editorial policy

How Derive commissions, edits, corrects, and labels its work.

The scope covers commissioned writing, field notes, guides, captions, headlines, newsletters, updates, and corrections to archived work. Editors consider audience, source quality, local context, date, and the difference between an observation and a verified fact. A practical suggestion is framed as information rather than a pressure to act. The publication's address in Bandung provides context for local references but does not limit access to readers elsewhere.

Writers are asked to identify relevant relationships, supplied material, sponsorship, or personal experience that could affect perception. Editors may request a clarification, an additional source, or a more careful description before publication. Records of a disclosure are limited to what is needed for the editorial decision and are not shared as a reader-facing profile. A commercial relationship does not give a sponsor the right to choose a conclusion.

Correction reports should include the URL, exact passage, reason for concern, and any source that can help verify the point. The desk aims to acknowledge a report within 10 working days and complete an initial review within 30 calendar days. A confirmed change that affects meaning receives a dated note or article-history entry. Correction and complaint records may be retained for 24 months so the desk can explain decisions consistently.

Older work remains dated because facts, local conditions, terminology, and external links can change. An update may add context, correct a passage, or indicate that a source is no longer current without erasing the publication history. Readers can request clarification through contact.php, at 120 Cihampelas Street, Bandung, West Java 40131, Indonesia, or +62 22 731 8975. This policy was reviewed on 14 October 2026 and will be reviewed in October 2027 or earlier if the editorial model changes.
