About / Bandung, Indonesia

A publication for steadier living

Derive brings together editorial craft, movement education, and a respect for the everyday realities of readers in Indonesia.

We believe accessible information can make a person feel more capable, not more anxious.

How Derive began

Derive started in 2024 as a small reading project for people who wanted more context around movement and wellbeing. In 2026, the publication continues to commission clear, culturally aware pieces from writers, coaches, and researchers.

Our work is informational. It does not replace an individual assessment, and it avoids language that promises a particular outcome.

2024 — A reading project

The first essays explored routines that could survive a crowded workweek.

2025 — Local voices

Contributors from Bandung, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta widened the conversation.

2026 — A public library

The journal now brings guides, programs, and editorial standards together in one place.

Our commitments

Clarity

We prefer plain explanations to dramatic claims and define unfamiliar terms.

Context

We consider climate, access, work, family life, and the realities of Indonesian cities.

Respect

Readers retain agency. We offer information, not pressure or promises.
